About
Dr. Dharmishtha Ashis Basu is a medical oncologist. With origins in Thane, she is an alumnus of Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School and has lived and worked across India as a student, physician, and medical oncologist for the past two decades. She believes that cancer care must step out from the hospital into the community to be truly effective, and that the first step toward this goal is creating awareness and dispelling the fear surrounding cancer treatment.

After completing three years of residency at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi, she joined the same institute as a consultant medical oncologist from 2023 to 2025. She has experience managing a wide variety of adult solid tumours and hemato-oncology patients. She is adept at the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and antibody drug conjugates. Trained by stalwart mentors, her special areas of interest include breast, lung, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and gynaecological–genitourinary oncology, along with molecular aspects and the application of precision medicine in these cancers.
- She completed her MBBS from North Bengal Medical College, West Bengal, between 2008 and 2014.
- She completed her MD in General Medicine from the historic Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, in 2019.
- She completed her DrNB in Medical Oncology from the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi, in 2023.
- She has been delegated as an investigator in multiple phase III national and international clinical trials and has several publications in indexed national and international oncology journals.
